How to Obtain the Necessary Information for Further Investigation

This article presents the steps in obtaining the necessary data for investigating receiving and delivering issues.

Solution

In order to investigate Axigen receiving/sending related issues, the necessary data must be available in the log file. To obtain this data the log verbosity must be increased for the services  encountering the issue to "Protocol Communication" during the investigation. If you are not sure at which service the issue is encountered you should increase the log level to "Protocol Communication" for the following services: SMTP Receiving, SMTP Sending, DNR, Queue Processing.

The following articles describe how to set the log level to "Protocol Communication":
SMTP Receiving
SMTP Sending
Queue Processing
DNR

After setting the log level to "Protocol Communication" for these services you must reproduce the issue. The messages from the log file should now contain more information than before, and should provide the necessary information for solving any issue related to any of these services.

In order to save the Axigen log files to the local machine please read this article.

NOTE: If issues are encountered during the IMAP, POP3 communication or other particular Axigen services you should increase the log level for those services.
